AFTER LIGHT
EDINBURGH | West End
2024- 2026
Edinburgh changes quickly at twilight.
Especially in the West End.
The light fades fast.
Stone buildings hold it for a few extra minutes before the streets turn blue and grey. Shop windows stay bright. Traffic slows down. People move differently.
These photographs were made over several evenings across two years.
Different seasons. Different weather. The same area and the same time of day.
No fixed route.
Just walking and observing.
Some frames focus on geometry and structure.
Staircases. Bridges. Cobbled streets. Long shadows.
Others focus more on atmosphere and movement.
People outside pubs. Someone crossing through fading light. Quiet moments between busy streets.
The West End works well for this kind of photography.
Old stone buildings beside modern spaces. Bright windows beside empty pavements. The area changes character from one street to the next.
Twilight simplifies the city.
Colours fade. Details disappear. Shapes become clearer.
That is what connects this series.
The same part of Edinburgh. The same hour. Different evenings passing through the same streets.
